Oakville residents looking to get away from these scorching temperatures will be able to find some cool relief.

The Town of Oakville said select outdoor pools and all splash pads will remain open through Thursday, Sept. 7.

It may be September, but temperatures soared this week, hitting near 40 C on Wednesday with the humidex.

With the hot weather expected to last until Thursday, the Town has opened its outdoor Bronte Pool for today and tomorrow so residents can help keep cool from the extreme heat.

Drop-in swims will be available on:

  • Wednesday, Sept. 6 at Bronte Pool, 2184 Hixon St., leisure swim from 4 to 5:30 p.m. and both leisure and lane swimming (combo swim) from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
  • Thursday, Sept. 7 at Bronte Pool, 2184 Hixon St., leisure swim from 4 to 5:30 p.m. and both leisure and lane swimming (combo swim) from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

To reserve your spot, visit the Drop-in Programs page.  Walk-ins are also welcome based on capacity. If you have a Summer Fun Pass, it can be used until Sept. 10.

Local Splash pads will remain open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

The hot temperatures arrived on Sunday and Environment Canada said it expects the heat wave to last between three to five days.
