Playgrounds at two major Burlington parks set for 2024 upgrades

The playgrounds at two Burlington parks are looking at major overhauls.

Nelson Park (418 New St.) and Millcroft Park (4250 Millcroft Park Dr.) are the parks that will be receiving the upgrades and the City of Burlington is looking for public input on what should be included in the projects.

“These playground renewals are a little different than most other playground renewal projects,” explained Desnive Beard, Burlington’s manager of community development. “Nelson Park and Millcroft Parks are destination parks, meaning people from outside of the neighbourhoods travel to use the playground and greenspace. Because of their higher profile, we’re asking for feedback from residents across the city as well as from within the neighbourhoods.”

Online surveys for both parks are open at getinvolvedburlington.ca/yourparks until Sept. 1.

As well, City personnel will collect feedback at 8 p.m. in Nelson Park on Aug. 6 before Movies in the Park. Further, they will be at Millcroft Park on Aug. 17, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. to collect community feedback on the types of playground equipment residents would like.

Once the surveys and pubic feedback come in and the data analyzed, a final concept for both park playgrounds will be developed. Construction is expected to begin and be completed in 2024.
