Halton cops make arrest

Three men accused of stealing a trailer load of tools from a commercial property on Spears Road have been charged after their get-away truck was spotted by police.

Halton Police said the three men – all wearing construction vests – broke into a business Monday just before 11 p.m. before allegedly fleeing the scene in a dark-coloured pick-up truck that was pulling a trailer loaded with tools.

Patrol officers found a vehicle matching the description near Lakeshore Rd. E and Ford Drive a short time later and made the arrest.

Eric Do Rego, 39, of Saint John, N.B. and Thornhill men Bryan Martinho, 29, and Patrick Ruvio, 21, have been charged with break and enter, trespass by night, disguise with intent and possession of break and enter tools.

At the time of the investigation Martinho had already entered into a release order related to other significant charges, including firearm-related offences. All of these offences occurred outside of Halton, and both Do Rego and Ruvio had signed as his sureties.

All three have all been held pending a bail hearing.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact the 2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at (905) 825-4777 ext. 2216.
