One pit bull went home, the other has now been located in Burlington

One of the two pit bulls that were on the loose in Burlington found its own way home. The other has now been located.
According to Halton police, the male dog made its way back to its residence yesterday (July 5).
The female was still missing today but was located after 5 p.m.
Police and Burlington Animal Control issued the alert yesterday after the dogs escaped from their home in the area of Martha St. and James. St.
At the time police said it was not known if the dogs are aggressive. However, the reputation of pit bulls prompted the warning, according to sources.
The warning sparked extensive debate on social media channels with many defending the dog type saying it is unfairly targeted for bad behaviour. Others said the cautionary alert was justified considering high-profile cases of pit bulls attacks on people and other dogs.
Pit bull ownership is prohibited in Ontario, but the legislation was relaxed somewhat in 2021.
