Hortons Burlington coffee donut arson

After nine months, morning commuters in Burlington can breathe a sigh of relief.

Tim Hortons at 2201 Brant Stree has reopened following several months of renovations that were needed after an arson fire.

The location is a popular destination in Burlington for those on their way to work in the morning and are looking for their caffeine fix.

“Finally!” said one a member of a Facebook chatgroup. “It is the most convenient Timmies to stop off at on the way to work. I really missed it. Everybody missed it.”

The store officially reopened today (Sept. 26) with an entirely new look but still offering the regular menu of coffee, donuts and sandwiches.

It was in December of last year that the location suffered extensive damage following a series of deliberately set fires.

At that time a man was charged with arson after several garbage bins outside the store were set ablaze and quickly spread to the building.

Initial plans called for the store to reopen in a few months but after several false starts, the doors have opened again.

“It’s open. Got a coffee there this morning,” said the operator of another business located in the same plaza as the Tim Hortons near Upper Middle Road. “It’s been busy there all day.”

During the lengthy closure, many customers lamented the loss saying that the location is convenient for the morning commute and that the staff is always helpful and friendly.

“It’s Tim Hortons and I know they are everywhere but I like this one,” said another Facebook group member. “There’s always a smiling face that greets me at the drive-through window. I hope the same staff is there. Looking forward to my morning coffee tomorrow.”
