The Halton Regional Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance to identify and locate a vehicle allegedly involved in purse thefts.
A total of five purse thefts occurred in the City of Burlington and Town of Oakville between Feb 24 and March 17, according to Halton Police. They say an unknown suspect entered various grocery stores, targeting older females and proceeded to steal their wallets and purses.
Investigators say are looking for a grey or silver Nissan Altima that was manufactured somewhere between 2002 and 2006. The vehicle is missing the front passenger hub cap and there is damage to the driver-side door and rear bumper, according to police. The vehicle also reportedly has a “very dark non-factory tint”.
“The public is reminded to reduce their risk when shopping and only bring your driver’s licence, health card, and a few financial cards,” added Halton Police. “All Identity documents should be left securely at home.”
Police also recommend ensuring your belongings are always within sight while shopping.
