A golden effort by an Oakville swimmer helped Brock University’s swim team do something it hasn’t done before.

Oakville’s Julien Legault won a pair of gold medals while setting school records to help lead the Badgers men’s swim team to the Boles Divisional Championship for the first time.

The third-year kinesiology student captured gold medals in the 50-metre backstroke and 50m medley relay at the two-day meet this past weekend held at the Eleanor Misener Aquatic Centre in St. Catharines.

Legault also put on silver medal performances in the 50m freestyle, 100m backstroke and the 200m backstroke.

The Oakville swimmer helped Brock top the men’s division with 1,030 points. The University of Guelph was second with 885 points, while Wilfrid Laurier placed third with 627 points.

For his efforts, Legault was named Brock’s male athlete of the week.
