Oakville’s Hale agrees to deal with Argonauts

Oakville native Cody Hale has signed a contract to play with the Toronto Argonauts.

The 22-year-old defensive back played four seasons at the University of Toronto (2018-2022), enjoying a breakout season in 2022 by collecting 26.5 tackles, one interception and a team-high four break ups in eight regular season games.

Over his four seasons with the Varsity Blues, the six-foot-three, 208 pound Abbey Park High School graduate racked up 62 tackles, two interceptions and two fumble recoveries in 30 games.

Hale, a human geography and sociology major, helped the University of Toronto to two playoff berths.

He played in six regular season games in 2021, registering 17.5 tackles and one tackle for a loss. He had one interception and a pair of fumble recoveries.

In his sophomore year with the Varsity Blues in 2018 he dressed for all eight games, starting in three. He finished the year with 15 tackles, five of those coming in a game Queens University.

Hale got into five games in his first season at the U. of T.
