British Car Day is back in Oakville.
After a hiatus of two years due to COVID-19 restrictions, the 37th annual British Car Day will be held Sunday (Sept. 18) at Bronte Creek Provincial Park.
More than 1,100 British cars are expected at the show along with numerous vendors.
Hosted annually by the Toronto Triumph Club, the car show is the largest one day all British car event in North America. The show has grown more popular each year since its inaugural event in 1984 and today draws over 9,000 spectators with some coming from as far as New Zealand, the United Kingdom and Texas.
The car show features vintage, classic and current British manufactured vehicles, including motorcycles. It includes a whole range of British automobile marques from Austin to Westfield with model names from Anglia to Zephyr and everything in between.
There are just under 60 different car classes with three awards up for grabs in each one. A panel of judges will also select the Best of Show car and a Long Distance Award given to the care driven the furthest (must pre-register to be eligible).
Organizers of the show are encouraging all those interested in coming out to bring their British cars, whether they are current model cars, daily drivers, partially restored cars or projects-in-progress, to line up with the many classic and concours-class cars in the appropriate marque and model class.
The show also includes a Vendor Village area, with over 50 British-related vendors offering new and used goods for sale such as cars, car parts, t-shirts, hats, tools, and books.
Several food vendors are also on site.
Pre-registration for the show is available through FASTLANE ($20 compared to $25 at the gate). Pre-registered drivers driving through the FASTLANE will be able to pick up a program and their voting card and dash plaque.
Those paying at the gate will have to sign in at registration.
Show cars arrive at 8 a.m. and spectators at 9 a.m. Awards ceremonies will be held at 2 p.m., with the show wrapping up at 3 p.m.
The entry fee to the park for spectators is $18 (you can also use a Parks Ontario season pass), $14.50 for seniors and $9 for the disabled. There is no limit to the number of people in a car.
