Oakville road lanes reconstruction rural urban route
Sixth Line will be getting a major overhaul.

Work will begin next year on the final stage of turning a rural Oakville route into a major urban road.

When complete, Sixth Line will go from a two-lane route into a four-lane road with a centre median and bike lanes.

When complete, the widened road will serve as a major north-south travel route for residents.

The first phase of the project from Dundas St. to Threshing Mill Blvd. was completed this past summer.

Phase two, from Threshing Mill to William Halton Pkwy., will begin next spring after ongoing subdivision servicing and utility relocations are completed. The ongoing utility work includes the installation of sanitary sewers and watermains that are required to provide servicing for future residential lots.

Full road closures are not expected for this work though lane restrictions will be required.

Once started the project is expected to take a year to complete.
