Oakville residents will be paying more in property tax

Oakville property taxes are going up.

The Town of Oakville has proposed a property tax hike of 1.77 per cent for 2022.

That’s an increase from its original proposal of 1.7 per cent and comes after a number of revisions to its 2022 budget.

The property tax rate still could come down from that number as the budget committee has asked staff to look into options that would drop the tax increase to 1.6 per cent.

The 2022 budget is set to go to council for approval on Monday, Dec. 20.

After an overall budget of $429.2 million last year, this year’s budget is up to $602.2 million.
