When it comes to proposing creative solutions to some of society’s most pressing challenges, the future is in good hands with youngsters like Aiden Tang and Kyryll Chalov
Tang, from Oakville, and Chalov, from Niagara Falls, are among the nine named finalists in the 10th Annual Toyota Canada Dream Art contest who designed vehicles to make the world a better place.
Their innovative designs, which tackle everything from environmental issues to addressing social tensions, will now go on to compete on the global stage.
“The passion for the environment, nature, people, and community shines through in this artwork,” said Tony Kelly, Vice President, Customer Services, Toyota Canada Inc., and one of the judges in the competition. “I was impressed by how attuned these young artists art to current issues and how clearly they present their ideas for solutions.
“Their thoughtfulness and effort make everyone a winner in my book.”
Tang won in the 8- to 11-years old category with his “Marine Car.” His vehicle eliminates illiteracy by educating children all over the world, emphasizing education as a universal right. The car also teaches children about marine life and inspires curiosity.
Chalov’s winning entry in the 12 to 15 age category was “Space Shark Weast Cleaning Car.” This space vehicle cleans up Earth’s orbit and is shaped like a shark that hunts for space trash and meteorites. It can fly and ride.
This marks the 10-year Toyota has invited kids across Canada and the world to design a ‘dream car’ that helps make the world a better place and inspires future artists, designers and innovators.
“Your creativity fuels our hopes for a brighter, more innovative future on the road ahead,” said judge Mike Mallory, Group Head, Salt Experiential Agency.
The nine finalists will advance to the World Finals where they will compete with kids from around the world to win a prize valued at $5,000 U.S.
Each Canadian finalist was also presented with a $250 online retail gift card to KiwiCo.
