Flags at all Town of Oakville facilities will be flown at half-mast all week in memory of long-time employee Sean Lett, who died Saturday.

Lett, 50, who served as the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts’ Supervisor of Technical Services, worked for the Town for more a quarter-century and earned his place in pop culture fame when he played the oldest of the ‘O’Doyles’ in the 1995 Adam Sandler movie Billy Madison, which was filmed at Parkwood Estate in Oshawa.

Lett was a young employee of the Performing Arts Centre at the time when his boss saw a movie audition ad looking for over-sized red-headed males who could pass for high school students.

Despite never acting before Lett got the part, playing the Grade 12 O’Doyle in the movie, which became a cult classic hit.

No other details on Lett’s death have been released as the Town said it does not comment on personnel matters.

Town flags will be flown at half-mast until sunrise Monday.
