Oakville medical supply company opens massive warehouse in Burlington

An Oakville medical manufacturing company has opened a new, 192,000 sq.-ft. warehouse facility in Burlington.

Canadian Hospital Specialties (CHS) president and CEO Mike Canozeri joined Oakville North-Burlington MPP Effie Triantafilopoulos, Oakville MPP Stephen Crawford and Burlington MPP Natalie Pierre to announce the grand opening.

“This strategic expansion represents a significant milestone in CHS’s commitment to enhancing its warehousing and distribution capabilities while aligning with its robust growth plans for the Canadian market,” said a company spokesperson.

The move is expected to streamline processes, improve overall efficiencies and substantially increase capacity to meet the growing demands of Canada’s healthcare sector.

“CHS is proud to continue its commitment to invest in Ontario,” said Canzoneri. “This new distribution, center along with our local manufacturing, supports our growth plan and enables us to be a reliable, innovative partner for the Canadian healthcare system.”

The Ontario Government has played a role in supporting CHS’s growth initiatives. The government invested $1.9 million through the Ontario Together Fund, complementing CHS’s own investment of $3.8 million.

This funding was instrumental in the modernization of CHS’s Oakville manufacturing facility, resulting in the creation of 50 new high-quality, well-paid jobs.

In addition to the Oakville facility modernization, CHS and the Ontario government collaborated to address a critical shortage of epidural catheters faced by healthcare professionals nationwide.

The Ontario government invested $775,000 through the Ontario Together Fund, bolstering CHS’s $1.5 million investment in developing a domestic manufacturing solution.

“These investments reaffirm our government’s commitment to a robust healthcare infrastructure while simultaneously boosting local economy.”
