Oakville man facing hate-motivated assault charge in Waterloo

A 20-year-old Oakville man is facing assault charges in Waterloo after what police are calling a hate-motivated incident.
On Jan. 13, at about 11:25 p.m., Waterloo Regional Police police responded to reports of a physical altercation in the area of King St. N. and Princess St. E.
The victim was assaulted by a male and sustained non-life-threatening physical injuries as a result of the incident. It is alleged the assailant uttered racial slurs during the incident.
Following an investigation, police arrested an Oakville man yesterday (Jan. 22) and charged him with assault.
He was held for a bail hearing.
