An Oakville man is facing charges in connection with child exploitation offences, police say.

Halton police say that on Nov. 27 2019, members of the police services’ Internet Child Exploitation Unit (I.C.E.) arrested a 21-year-old male for multiple alleged child exploitation offences.

Police say Jared Gould was charged with three counts of luring a child, three counts of making sexually explicit material available to a child, two counts of possession of child pornography, invitation to sexual touching, making child pornography, and three counts of failure to comply with a probation order.

Police say the investigation stemmed from multiple complaints from parents across various jurisdictions regarding their children communicating with a male that the children met on various online chat platforms, specifically those geared towards hockey.

Police say the accused utilized the user names “mikhockey123”, “mikhockey1234”, and “Jared G”.

Police are encouraging parents to talk to their children about online safety.
