An Oakville aquatics facility won a provincial award.

The Oakville Trafalgar Community Centre, which officially opened in the fall of 2020, won the 2023 Parks and Recreation Ontario Aquatics Facility Design Award.

“Oakville Trafalgar Community Centre has been recognized for its excellence in aquatics facility design and the innovative ways it meets the community’s needs,” the Town of Oakville said in a tweet today (April 3).

The Oakville Trafalgar Community Centre was built on the site of the former Oakville Trafalgar Memorial at 327 Reynolds Rd.

It is a fully-accessible facility featuring a 25-metre lap pool, therapeutic warm water pool, double gymnasium, fitness centre with a walking/running track, universal change rooms, multipurpose meeting rooms, space for intergenerational programming, café, and more.

Both pools in the facility have accessible ramps and there is a water wheelchair available for use.

And the walking track, with an outer lane 117 metres in length, is Oakville’s largest indoor track.
