New gourmet doughnut shop open in Milton

A new gourmet spot for doughnuts and coffee has opened its doors in Milton.

Maverick’s Donuts, a fast-growing Canadian chain based out of Ottawa, has opened its doors at a busy plaza on the corner of Main Street East and Thompson Road.

Made fresh daily, never frozen, Maverick’s claims “These are the freshest, most delicious donuts ever.”

The menu includes a wide variety of donuts that changes every day. Of course, there are the classics like honey, cherry or chocolate glazed.

But the signature line includes more exotic combinations like caramel crunch, pb and chocolate, dulce cinnamon swirl and cherry blossom.

Different doughnuts also means different kinds of dough and that allows for raised offerings like the Canadian, chocolate mint and the Berliner.

A long-time favourite, fritters are also available in apple and blueberry, but head’s up, they tend to sell out quickly.

For quick snacks for youngsters, there are also Mini Mavs available. Offerings are rounded out by a vegan line in vanilla sprinkle, chocolate Oreo and cinnamon sugar.

And nothing goes better with a doughnut than a coffee, whether it’s a simple double-double or a fancier espresso, cappuccino or latte.

The shop is owned by the husband and wife team of Shahid and Maryam Bilal.

You can place an order online for pickup. They can also accommodate larger orders for special events like birthday or corporate events.

They’re open Tuesday to Sunday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and are located at 850 Main St. E., unit 6.
