A new spot in Milton for local teens to call their own is now open.

The Town of Milton celebrated the grand opening of the Milton Youth Space with a ribbon cutting ceremony featuring Mayor Krantz, members of the Milton Youth Task Force and representatives from Town Council.

Located in the Milton Sports Centre, 605 Santa Maria Blvd., this dedicated space will provide youth ages 13-18 with a safe, inclusive and supervised place to gather, socialize and study.

It features a kitchenette, TV, gaming console, lounge chairs, ping pong table, individual seating for studying, games, charging station and a food bank and clothing exchange.

“Having more places around Milton for youth to safely gather is a priority for our community,” said Kristene Scott, commissioner, Community Services.

“The goal in creating the Milton Youth Space is to ensure there is an inclusive and welcoming area youth can call their own. A big thank you to the Milton Youth Task Force and our Youth Space sponsors, who helped make this concept a reality.”

Open weekdays from 3 to 8:30 p.m. for drop-in visitors, the Milton Youth Space is supervised by trained youth engagement leaders. The space will feature programming and events tailored to youth interests and access to key support networks in the community.

The Milton Youth Space was designed with input from local youth, including the Milton Youth Task Force, who provided guidance on space design and programming.
