If you love riding you bike in Halton Hills, but aren’t sure exactly where to go, an in-depth map of the Town’s cycling infrastructure is being unveiled this weekend.
The Town of Halton Hills and the Halton Hills Bike It group teamed up to to release the Town’s first map that shows the cycling infrastructure that the Town has constructed over the past decade.
It features 13 loop rides designed to use cycling infrastructure such as bike lanes, multi-use paths and quiet streets that make for enjoyable cycling for all ages and abilities.
Volunteers on the Town’s Bike It Working Group created the loop rides and the safety messaging located on the map.
“Now that we have a solid network of cycling infrastructure in Georgetown and Acton it makes sense that we have a map detailing all these fabulous routes,” said Halton Hills Mayor Ann Lawlor.
“Residents should know too, that the Town is committed to making our roads safer for cyclists as part of our active transportation strategy.”
Local cycling enthusiast and advocate Councillor Jane Fogal shared her thoughts as the Chair of the Bike It group and the Active Transportation Advisory Committee.
“Our Bike It group of volunteers has a mission to get more people riding their bikes more often for fun or transportation. We believe this cycling map will inspire more bike riding by residents of all ages and abilities.”
