Plans are in the works to bring more than 600 residential units to a busy Milton intersection.

Currently home to an outdoor shopping plaza, the northwest corner of Derry Rd. and Regional Road 25, 550 Ontario St. S., could see multiple apartment buildings on the site.

The developer, currently unnamed, has applied for Official Plan and zoning bylaw amendments to allow for two high-rise point towers on top of six and five-storey podiums, and a third, four-storey mid-rise residential building.

The towers are proposed at heights of 24 and 19 storeys, facing the intersection, with the four-storey building at the rear of the site, set back to the existing 3-storey townhouses.

All told, the proposal calls from 649 residential units.

In addition, the mixed-use buildings will feature more than 20,000 sq.-ft. of commercial uses, as well as private amenity use space on the ground floors along Derry Rd. and Regional Road 25.

The application is currently undergoing a technical review by the Town of Milton.
