Burlington Skyway Niagara bound lanes closed

Another set of lane closures has been added to the Burlington Skyway.

All lanes will now be closed on Niagara-bound on Friday, Aug. 11 starting at 6:30 p.m. for construction work. The lanes will reopen the next morning at 9:30.

The Ontario Ministry of Transportation, operators of the stretch of the QEW that crosses the bridge, had previously announced Friday night closures throughout this month taking place now on July 14, 21 and 28.

In case of bad weather, the Friday night construction will be rescheduled for the next night, Saturday and the lanes will reopen Sunday morning by 9:30 a.m.

Meanwhile, the continuing overhaul of the Burlington Canal Lift Bridge will lead to slowdowns through the area on Eastport Dr. until early next year.

During this construction work, three of the four lanes will be closed. The one remaining lane will open for alternating traffic with signalers or traffic lights.

The canal bridge will remain open for cyclists and pedestrians during this period and marine traffic will not be affected, according to Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC).
