UPDATE 3;10 P.M.: All westbound lanes of the Queen Elizabeth Way have reopened at Third Line in Oakville.

A Mississauga motorcyclist has been seriously injured after a collision this morning (Aug. 2) in Oakville that closed all westbound lanes of the Queen Elizabeth Way.

Ontario Provincial Police reports the collision took place around 9 a.m. on the Fort Erie bound QEW at Dorval Dr.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 61-year-old man from Mississauga, has been taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The Traffic Support Unit is currently on the scene. Police have yet to confirm how many vehicles were involved in the incident.

The four westbound lanes could remain closed well into the afternoon.

As a result of the collision and highway being closed westbound, drivers are reminded to be patient as they look for a detour around the closure. Other roads in the area such as westbound Speers Rd. are currently very busy.
