Regional authorities are weighing their options after a massive rail-and-truck hub has been approved for construction near the Town of Milton.
On October 4, 2024, a unanimous ruling was made on behalf of the federal government to allow the Canadian National Railway Co. to construct this major trade and construction site despite alleged “adverse environmental effects.”
The newly approved $250-million project has been purpose-built to double CN’s existing line of tracks in Milton.
Halton Region immediately posted the same day as the announcement that they “remain steadfast in our position that this project will have negative health effects on residents” via their official website.
Today (Oct. 15) — in a post to X (formerly Twitter) — Halton Region representatives have also indicated that they are now exploring legal options to build a platform to strengthen their opposition to CN’s rail advancement project in Milton.

Beyond the work being done on behalf of regional authorities, representatives within the Halton Region are also now calling on Milton residents to reach out to their local MP and MPP with air quality concerns in relation to the construction of the rail-and-truck hub.
