Milton Mayor will carry on New Year’s Eve tradition

Milton Mayor Gord Krantz will again be ringing in the new year, continuing a tradition that started in 1967.

Krantz, Canada’s longest-ever serving mayor in a major municipality, continued the tradition beginning in 1981, when he first took office.

Local residents and visitors are invited to join Krantz in Victoria Park, 43 Brown St., next to Town Hall, for a bell ringing and festive gathering to celebrate 2024.

The event is being held Sunday, Dec. 31, at 11:45 p.m.

There’s no word yet on who the ceremonial bell-ringer will be or whether the annual New Years Levee will be held on Jan. 1.
