Milton man makes huge game error but escapes it quickly on ‘Big Brother Canada’

Milton man Hope Agbolosoo dodged one heck of a bullet on Week Three of ‘Big Brother Canada’ when he foolheartedly offered himself up as a pawn on the eviction block.

There aren’t a lot of hard-and-fast rules for players in the Big Brother game but here’s three.
1) Never offer yourself up as a sacrificial lamb.
2) Pawns often go home.
3) See Rules #1 and #2.

It seems Agbolosoo fell victim to a common affliction in the Big Brother house that usually happens about Week Three or so. Contrasting completely with his normal high energy, fun-loving character, he got twitchy, he got mopey and he got down on himself.

The man with the “megawatt smile and captivating energy,” as his bio stated, flat out got bummed and down in the dumps after he lost the second Head of Household (HoH) competition.

“Feel like I let myself down. Feel like I let Canada down. Feel like I let my little brother down,” he said despondently in the house’s Diary Room.

“Big Brother Canada is no joke. If you don’t bring something to the table, no one wants to work with you.”

He then did the unthinkable. He went to the man who had won HoH, Niagara Falls’ Dan Szabo, and asked him to put him on the block.

Szabo could scarcely believe his good fortune. For the HoH, putting people on the block is a quick way to make enemies of those who survive and here was a housemate literally offering himself up.

That said, once on the block, Agbolosoo had a sense he would get his sweet vindication if he won the Power of Veto (PoV) competition.

When the PoV battle came, the 23-year-old skills coach came close, vanquishing his first three opponents in a competition where they had to secure oversized meter-long bristles onto a huge vibrating toothbrush without them falling over. (Sometimes you have to see these challenges to believe them – physical yet, well, goofy. Great TV, though.)

Those initial wins got the fire back in his belly as he looked at his final opponent, Ottawa’s Zach Neilson, and happily chirped at age 34, Neilson “is like 100 years older than me!”

Alas, Neilson narrowly won but in the end, he used the PoV to remove Agbolosoo from the block as he had another target in mind.

Now it’s up to Agbolosoo to go back to his previous happy-go-lucky demeanor that’s made him popular with both the women and the men in the house. In a show that often pits the genders against each other, he seems happy to co-exist with both. That could make him a credible contender and threat further down the road.

This season, the episodes air Tuesday (7 pm), Wednesday (9 pm), and Thursday (7 pm) on Global-TV.

Both Hope Agbolosoo and Renee Mior from Vaughan landed on the eviction block in Week Three of Big Brother Canada but both escaped unscathed as Agbolosoo was yanked so the housemates could backdoor Toronto’s Roberto Lopez instead.
