Milton loading up on fun activities for this year’s Family Day

The Town of Milton is taking Family Day seriously this year, offering a wide variety of programs on Monday, Feb. 19.

“Residents can enjoy a variety of activities including skating, swimming, and sports and fitness programs taking place throughout the day at the Town’s recreation centres,” said a Town spokesperson.

Here are some of the events planned.

Mattamy National Cycling Centre

• Drop-in family pickleball, family badminton and family volleyball
• Regular admission for the drop-in program applies
• Pre-registration is encouraged as space is limited

Milton Sports Centre

• Free public skating (sponsored by Tim Hortons) from 10:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
• Free public skating (sponsored by Roach Real Estate) from 12:15 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.
• Free family-focused sports and fitness activities including family basketball, family dodgeball, family soccer and family games taking place in the gymnasium from 10:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
• Family Zumba class in the gymnasium at noon
• Fun swims, regular admission applies, space is limited, pre-registration encouraged
• Stick ‘N Puck, regular admission applies, space is limited; pre-registration encouraged
• Free children’s drop-in activities taking place throughout the day at the Preschool Activity Room
• Free sensory friendly drop-in from 10:45 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. featuring quiet music, low lights and fun sensory crafts and activities for all participants, space limited to 10 people at a time

Sherwood Community Centre

• Free public skating (sponsored by Tim Hortons) from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
• Fun swims from 10:15 to 11:40 a.m. and noon to 1:25 p.m.
• Stick ‘N Puck, regular admission applies, space is limited; pre-registration encouraged
• Free Family-Friendly Craft offering three one-hour sessions at 10:30 a.m., noon and 1:30 p.m.
