Milton floor hockey team needs help to make it to Special Olympics Winter Games

A floor hockey team from Milton is looking for help so they can compete in next month’s Special Olympics Canada Winter Games in Calgary.

The Mighty Ducks floor hockey team, made up of special needs adults, is hoping to raise $22,700 so they can make their way to the competition.

The competition is being held Feb. 27 to Mar. 2.

As part of the fundraising effort, the team is holding a bottle drive on Saturday, Jan. 13, at The Beer Store, 1071 Maple Ave. Local residents can drop off their empty beer, wine and spirits bottles, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There is also a fundraising website set up so anyone can make a donation. So far, about $3,000 has been raised for trip.
