Milton conservation areas offer fun activities for autumn

Conservation Halton is getting ready for the fall season by previewing autumn highlights a some of its park in Milton.

If you want to gets a birdseye view of some of the upcoming spectacular fall views, Kelso Conservation Area in Milton might be the perfect choice.

Chairlift rides at Kelso are back every weekend in October and the entire Thanksgiving long weekend, weather permitting.

Take a ride up or down the Niagara Escarpment and enjoy spectacular views of the fall colours along the way.

Tickets are valid for two trips, in any combination of up or down, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. . Fall chairlift rides can be added to any reservation for Kelso main gate during park hours on chairlift operating days.

Some of the rules include:

  • No pets or bikes are allowed on the lifts
  • Riders must be at least 42 inches or 107 cm in height to ride the chair
  • Children five and under must be accompanied by an adult
  • The last ride in either direction is loaded at 4:30 p.m.

After ascending the escarpment, you can try the mountaintop hiking trail or a game of disc golf. Rattlesnake Point also offers breathtaking views of the escarpment.

Mountsberg is another Milton park that has a number of fall experiences, activities and attractions.

Visitors can take a short but sweet walk through the Sugar Bush, go for a longer hike on the Pioneer Creek Trail, find a spot to fish along the shore, or cast a line from your kayak or canoe.

Don’t forget to drop in on your feathered friends at the Mountsberg Raptor Centre, hang out with the farm animals in the animal barn, and bring your kids to climb, clamber and crawl on the natural playground.
