Burlington voters have decided to give Marianne Meed Ward a second term as mayor of the City.
Meed Ward handily retained her seat against four challengers, with 77.99 per cent of the vote after 28 of 29 polls reporting.
Trailing her in the polls was Jim Kerr with 13.46 per cent, Anne Marsden, with 4.17 per cent, Steven Rieck with 2.89 per cent and William Tuck with 1.48 per cent.
This will be Meed Ward’s second term as mayor, after beating the previous mayor, Rick Goldring, by about 6,500 votes four years ago.

Prior to becoming mayor, Meed Ward served two terms as the Ward 2 councillor, winning elections in 2010 and 2014.
Her first shot at entering the political world was a failed attempt at the Ward 1 councillor job in 2006 and then a narrow defeat as the provincial Liberal candidate in 2007 against Conservative Joyce Savoline.
Prior to her foray into politics, Meed Ward earned a degree in journalism from Carleton University in Ottawa and spent about a decade as reporter and editor of Faith Today magazine. She also worked for the Toronto Sun for several years, as the faith and ethics columnist as well as a regional reporter.
