Man dead after early morning Oakville apartment building fire

A man trying to escape a fire in an Oakville apartment building early Wednesday morning (July 5) has died.
Halton Regional police said emergency crews rushed to the scene of a fire on the 11th floor of the building located at 199 Queen Mary Dr., near Lakeshore Rd. W. and Kerr St., before 6 a.m.
According to reports, the men fell from the 11th floor balcony of the unit that was in flames.
“One male was transported to hospital but tragically has been passed away,” said Halton Regional Police.
Police said the fire was contained to a single unit on the 11th floor of the building.
No other injuries have been reported.
