UPDATE: Police have now opened the roadways to motorists.

Some roads have been temporarily blocked off as there is a heavy police presence at a townhouse in Burlington this afternoon.

Halton Regional Police are advising residents to avoid the area on Hazelton Boulevard.

Investigators say that a man has been taken into custody, withholding details about the situation, including his name, age, and place of residence.

A Collins Photo posted a video on X (formerly Twitter) of a tactical rescue vehicle, and emergency response unit and mentioned that a canine unit was on its way.

In the video, one police vehicle was stationed in a driveway with officers positioned alongside it, while another vehicle was parked outside the townhouse complex along the side of the road.

Both vehicles had their sirens activated.

As of 2:30 p.m., authorities began clearing the area, preparing to reopen the roads to motorists.

Police say, there is no current threat to the public.

More information to follow as it becomes available.
