Man and woman fall from a high rise apartment balcony in Burlington

The SIU is investigating an incident where a man and woman fell from a residential building in Burlington last night after Halton Regional Police responded to a 911 call about a gun at an apartment.

On Friday (July 7) at approximately 10 p.m., police were dispatched to Ghent Ave. southeast of Brant St. regarding a visible firearm at a residential unit.

Police say they knocked on the door of the unit but received no response.

Another 911 call came in about a woman who fell onto a patio below.

Officers responded and administered CPR on the woman while paramedics were called.

Due to the circumstances of the incident, the SIU took over the investigation.

According to the SIU a 24-year-old woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A 29-year-old man was taken to hospital where he remains. SIU has not indicated his current injuries or condition.

The investigations are ongoing.

Two subject officials and three witness officials have been designated at this time. The post-mortem is scheduled for tomorrow (July 9, 2023).
