It looks like we’re going to receive the storm before the calm, for the remainder of the first week of March.
The Weather Network is advising that lingering, winter-like conditions are persisting for the rest of the week, with temperatures remaining 10 to 15 degrees below zero, with another burst of potential snow expected for this evening (March 6).
“The bitter cold persists through Wednesday with temperatures once again 10 to 15 degrees below normal,” Weather Network meteorologist Michael Carter said.
Potential snow squalls may also affect travel and visibility, as a brisk west wind may create additional flurries across southwestern and south-central Ontario this evening, with incoming rain possibly transforming into freezing rain by Saturday night before reverting back to normal precipitation the following day.
As the warm front comes into play for southern Ontario by the end of the week, sidewalks and roads may be affected by ice pellets, freezing rain, and possible localized flooding.
Homeowners are being urged to clear any storm drains ahead of that incoming weekend system.
It’s not all bad news, however, as significant spring-like weather may be starting off the March Break.
“We are keeping an eye on March 15-20 and indications that this will bring a period of cooler weather, but it will still be much warmer than the first 10 days of March,” Carter says.
By mid to late next week, a milder pattern of weather is expected, despite a potential “significant interruption,” but rest assured, it looks like the persistent wintery weather may finally be behind us.
