Oakville, Burlington and Halton Hills have just been issued a major weather warning.

According to an official report from Environment Canada, looming weather hazards include “torrential downpours” and “rainfall amounts of 30 to 60 mm.”

The report also indicates that higher amounts of rainfall are a likelihood as the day continues.

Residents throughout all three municipalities within the Halton Region are urged to exercise caution, as Environment Canada has indicated that these heavy downpours are prone to cause flash floods, which may localize potential flooding to low-lying areas.

Residents can anticipate slow-moving thunderstorms that may continually produce heavy rainfall throughout the day.
