Longtime lottery player from Milton hits it big with Encore

A Milton truck driver is Ontario’s newest millionaire after winning an Encore jackpot on Sept. 6.

Carlos Da Silva matched all seven Encore numbers in exact order in the Lotto Max draw to win $1 million.

Da Silva has been a regular player of a variety of OLG games for more than 30 years. He always chooses his own numbers and makes sure to add Encore to his tickets. This is his first big win.”

“My wife and I were on our way home after dropping off some donation items at a local retirement home,” Da Silva said while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his winnings.

“I decided to check my ticket on the OLG App. When my wife realized what we had won, she started screaming! I was a little calmer.

“All we could say was ‘oh my God’ over and over, as we made our way home. We shared the news with our family, and they were overjoyed!”

Da Silva said he hasn’t fully absorbed what it means to win a life-changing prize.

“I can’t explain what I’m feeling and that’s the honest truth. I haven’t been able to sleep for days due to the joy I feel.”

With his windfall, Da Silva looks forward to purchasing a home.

The winning ticket was purchased at Sobeys Extra on Bronte Street South in Milton.
