Burlington voters have overwhelmingly chosen the status quo as every incumbent, including Mayor Marianne Meed Ward, will hold onto their seats in the 2022 municipal election.
Marianne Meed Ward has earned her second term of office, with nearly 78 per cent of the vote from 28 of 29 polls reporting. Jim Kerr was a distant second with 13.76 per cent. Anne Marsden, Steven Rieck and William Tuck all finished with less than five per cent of the vote.
City Councillors
All six Burlington councillors, all of whom also sit on regional council, have been re-elected. Five were first-time councillors last term with the only veteran being Ward 5’s Paul Sharman.

- Ward 1 – Kelvin Galbraith with 63 per cent of the vote.
- Ward 2 – Lisa Kearns with 72 per cent of the vote.
- Ward 3 – Rory Nisan with 64 per cent of the vote.
- Ward 4 – Shawna Stolte with 47 per cent of the vote.
- Ward 5 – Paul Sharman with 63 per cent of the vote.
- Ward 6 – Angelo Bentivegna with 61 per cent of the vote.
Regional Chair
Gary Carr has been elected to his fifth term as chair of Halton Region, fending off the challenge from a pair of Burlington politicians, former Burlington Conservative MPP Jane McKenna and former school board chair Andrea Grebenc.
Carr has been chair since 2006 after earlier stints as an Oakville MPP and Speaker of the House.
Halton District School Board
The two incumbents on the Halton District School Board, chair Margo Shuttleworth and Amy Collard, both held on to their seats. In Wards 1 and 2, Mtthew Diodati has won the seat. In Wards 3 and 6, Xin Yi Zhang has a narrow lead in the seven-person field.
- Ward 1&2 – Matthew Diodati with 55 per cent of the vote.
- Ward 3&6 – Xin Yi Zhang with 22 per cent of the vote.
- Ward 4 – Margo Shuttleworth with 50 per cent of the vote.
- Ward 5 – Amy Collard with 80 per cent of the vote.
Halton Catholic District School Board
Kirsten Kelly has ousted controversial Vincent Iantomasi as Wards 1&2 trustee on the Halton Catholic District School Board.
The other new trustee is Trish Nicholls-Powell who won Wards 3&6 while vice-chair Brenda Agnew held onto her seat in Wards 4&5.
- Wards 1&2 – Kirsten Kelly with 59 per cent of the vote.
- Wards 3&6 – Trish Nicholls-Powell with 63 per cent of the vote.
- Wards 4&5 – Brenda Agnew with 58 per cent of the vote.
French School Board winners
