Lightning strikes roof of Burlington home

A fire on the roof of a Burlington home caused by a lightning strike Thursday evening (June 20) was quickly extinguished.

The Burlington Fire Department responded to a call at a home on Jackson Drive in the area of Dundas Street and Walkers Line around 8 p.m. to discover lightning had struck the roof.

Fire crews would discover a hole in the roof and several burning shingles which they would put out.

No injuries were reported.

Heavy rain and a thunderstorm passed by the area in the late afternoon and early evening, before ending later on in the evening.
