Oakville’s Ida Pietri had no idea what was happening at first.
Checking her Lightning Lotto tickets at the store on February 27, suddenly the screen went blank.
Fortunately for the retiree, the screen would soon reveal that she won the top prize of $362,860.50.
“I told the clerk there was something wrong because the screen disappeared – then Big Winner appeared on the screen and the jackpot reset,” said the grandmother.
Pietri immediately went to go get her husband.
“He didn’t believe it at first but when he finally did, we told the rest of the family,” she smiled.
Pietri admits she’s plays the lottery occasionally.
“I love to play games that are $5 or under,” she said while picking up her winnings at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. “I had $2 in my wallet, so I decided to play Lightning Lotto.”
As for what she’ll do with her winnings, Pietri plans to purchase some new furniture and take a trip to visit family.
Pietri bought the winning ticket at Piggy Mart on Lakeshore Road in Oakville.
