Legendary Canadian rockers April Wine have a date with Burlington.
Hailing from Nova Scotia, the band has enjoyed global success since 1969 producing chart toppings songs and performing before sold-out crowds wherever they appear.
The band is booked for the Burlington Performing Arts Centre on Thursday, Oct. 26 at 8 p.m.
April Wine, a name chosen simply because they were two words that sounded good together, 15 studio albums, three live releases, numerous compilations, a boxed set and thousands of concerts later, the band is still on the road.
The group’s ninth studio album, The Nature of the Beast, was a smash hit that went double platinum in Canada and became April Wine’s greatest success featuring the single Just Between You and Me.
In March 2009, April Wine was inducted into the Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame during Canadian Music Week in Toronto. They also received The Lifetime Achievement Award for being part of Canadian Music History for 40 years. In April 2010, at the Juno Awards, April Wine was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.
The appearance, however, will be without leader Myles Goodwyn who announced last December that he would no longer be touring with the band. In his place, lead vocals and guitar duties have been handed over to Marc Parent.
