It was hinted at before, but now it’s official, another Zellers pop-up store is set to open in Burlington.

The location of the store will be in Hudson’s Bay at Mapleview Mall.

The official launch is set for August 11.

Company officials say the store-within-a-store is being used to measure customer acceptance to determine if the Zellers brand will be relaunched in full-sized stores.

“Pop-ups are a key ingredient in our expansion strategy, allowing us to explore and test in new markets, gather valuable customer insights, and fine-tune our offering before establishing larger format store locations,” says Sophia Hwang-Judiesch, President of Hudson’s Bay. “Our customers are very much part of our growth process, and together we will shape the future of Zellers, building a shopping experience that truly connects with communities across Canada.”

The news follows the closure of Hudson’s Bay and the Zellers pop-up at Burlington Centre last month.

The pop-up concept gives customers a taste of Zellers, a somewhat iconic Canadian store that first opened 1928 and lasted until 2013 when its locations were taken over by the ill-fated Target chain.

Now owned by Hudson’s Bay, company officials say the pop-ups give consumers a taste of the Zellers brand by providing a sampling of the merchandise that could be provided in a larger-format store while capturing some of the nostalgia the brand provides.

The Mapleview Centre is located at 900 Maple Dr.
