Food, entertainment and fun are promised for Burlington’s first Latin Festival.

Taking over Nelson Park on New Street, the festival will run both Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 14 and 15) from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

“For the first time, we have the honour to announce the Burlington Latino Festival, the perfect opportunity to share the roots, tradition and heritage of the local Latino community,” reads the announcement on the festival’s website. “Familiar events, food, music, a kid zone, bistro bar, artisans, crafters and tons of surprises are promised.”

Organizers say the inaugural festival is set to become an annual tradition to highlight Latin culture, music, and traditions.

The event is presented by Latin Legacy, a non-profit organization formed by the Latin community that is committed to advocating for and honouring Latin heritage.

“The goal is to unite community members in a joyous celebration of diversity, togetherness, and cultural enrichment,” organizers said. “This lively festival will showcase a variety of activities such as live shows, dance classes, culinary showcases, arts and crafts displays, and family-oriented entertainment.”

The event is free to attend.
