Lane closed Burlington construction

The construction of Trafalgar Rd. and Eighth Line in Milton and Halton Hills that began in 2021 is still about a year away from completion.

And the next phase of the project, beginning Thursday, will see a section of Eighth Line reduced to one lane for both directions with temporary traffic signals installed to control the flow of traffic through this section.

The lane restrictions, which will be in force on Eighth Line, just north of Steeles Ave., are anticipated to remain in place until May 2024.

Halton Region says motorists should expect significant delays when travelling through the area and are encouraged to find alternate routes.

In 2021, Halton Region started to install a wastewater main on Trafalgar Road and Eighth Line to support the future growth of south Georgetown.

The wastewater installation is 15-km in length and includes sections on Trafalgar Road and Auburn Rd., Wards 2 and 3 in Milton, and Eighth Line and Steeles Ave. Ward 2, in the Halton Hills.

Micro-tunneling is being used for the installation of the wastewater main.

Local access, access to businesses and emergency access, will be maintained along Eighth Line at all times. There is no anticipated disruption to waste collection or mail delivery.

Select properties will require the use of a driveway assist device to ensure they can safely exit their driveway for the duration of this lane restriction. Residents receiving this device will be contacted separately by the Region.
