Walmart Burlington rob vacuum

Halton police say a man trying to make off with a stolen vacuum cleaner pulled a knife on a store employee.

Reports indicate the suspect went to the Walmart on Fairview St. in Burlington around 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 16.

The suspect was then observed leaving the store with the vacuum without paying for it.

When a store employee tried to stop the man from leaving the area, the suspect took out a knife and ran off toward the Burlington GO station to make his getaway.

Police were called and an arrest was made a short time later. The vacuum was recovered

A 41-year-old man has since been charged with robbery and failing to comply with the conditions of a previous release order. He remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
