Kayaker drowns in waters off Burlington

A man has died after a kayaking incident at Burlington Beach.

The Halton Police Marine Unit was called to the scene just after 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 3 after reports that a man had slipped out of his kayak into the water and did not resurface,

After an extensive search of the area, the man was found in the water about 75 metres from the shore, according to police.

He was taken to hospital and later pronounced dead.

The name of the victim has not been released but it is known that he was in his 30s.

The victim was alone in the kayak at the time but was in the water with other kayakers who noticed his disappearance and called 911.
