Ontario, Halton Region, Burlington, police, jewelry, robbery,

An elderly Burlington man was robbed of an estimated $2,500 in jewelry in a veterans club parking lot on Saturday afternoon.

Halton Regional Police are investigating after the man said he was sitting in his parked car at the Navy Club on Industrial Street at approximately 1 p.m. when he was approached by two suspects.

“The suspect in the passenger seat of the vehicle expressed interest in a gold ring the male was wearing and pulled it off his finger,” said Halton police. “During a brief struggle, the suspect also pulled a gold chain off of the male’s neck.

“In some sort of unwanted exchange, the suspects then handed the male two fake gold pieces of jewelry and fled the scene.”

The value of the stolen jewelry is estimated to be approximately $2,500.

The man was not injured during the robbery, police said.

Police are working to provide an accurate description of the two suspects and their vehicle. It is believed there may be additional victims and that the suspects are attempting to trade worthless fake jewelry to unsuspecting victims in exchange for their potentially valuable jewelry.
