It will cost over $100,000 yearly to add another person to the mayor’s office staff in Burlington.

A recommendation that will go before City council suggests creating the new position to help with the workload the office has been experiencing.

The total amount that will be paid to the new person is $107,486 which represents a full-year salary and benefits.

The position will not only assist the mayor but also help those tasked with deputy mayor duties at CityHall.

A report recommending the move said the increased staffing is needed to address the current workload in the mayor’s office, particularly for constituent support and community development initiatives as well as assisting the other councillors.
