Improvements coming soon to Trafalgar Road in Oakville

A construction project will be taking place this week that may impact residents in the Town of Oakville.

Halton Region will be making improvements will be made to Trafalgar Road between Leighland Avenue and north of Hays Boulevard to address future traffic demands and provide safe travel options for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

These improvements include the widening from four to six lanes, new sidewalks, off-road bike lanes, bus stops and shelters, traffic signals and street lights, noise walls, landscaping, watermains and an upgraded stormwater main infrastructure.

Additionally, equipment for the Regional Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS), a traffic signal control system that enables real-time signal adjustments will be installed.

Residents may be impacted as a result of the construction project such as with truck traffic, water, sound walls, waste collection, noice, vibration, dust and mud and tree removals.

Curbside lanes will be closed at the intersection of Trafalgar Road (northbound) and Upper Middle Road (westbound) for the installation of stormwater management infrastructure until Saturday, Jan. 9.

One through lane and one left-turn lane will remain open throughout the work.

There are currently temporary lane shifts to the east side of Trafalgar Road between Leighland Avenue and north of Hays Boulevard to facilitate construction on the west side of Trafalgar Road and temporary traffic signals have been installed.

Two lanes of traffic will be maintained in each direction during peak travel hours.
