Conservation Halton has decided to close its parks in Milton, Burlington and Halton Hills, effective immediately, due to the impending storm.

Weather warnings have been issued for snow and high winds for most of southern Ontario so, via their social media channels, Conservation Halton announced the closure late afternoon on Friday, Jan. 12.

“With a strong wind storm starting today and continuing tomorrow, all parks will be closing early today and will remain closed tomorrow. Mount Nemo is currently closed and all other parks will close at 4 p.m. Thank you for your understanding.”

The closure affects eight conservation areas:

  • Kelso and Glen Eden Ski Area
  • Mountsberg
  • Rattlesnake Point
  • Area 8
  • Hilton Falls
  • Crawford Lake
  • Mount Nemo
  • Robert Edmondson

In addition, there’s a winter weather travel advisory in effect in all areas of Halton due to expected significant snowfall and blowing snow.
