Virtual meeting will look at traffic issues in Burlington neighbourhood

A meeting tonight (March 9) will provide some insight into future traffic management plans for a Burlington neighbourhood.

Burlington City staff and consultants will provide an update on the Sheldon Creek Neighbourhood Traffic Management Study and Plan, give a brief recap of the project to date and address previously received resident concerns and requests.

The consultants will also summarize the findings of the various neighbourhood studies, and present alternatives devised to mitigate identified safety issues and neighbourhood parking concerns.

The meeting will be held virtually.

The study area is bounded by Appleby Line in the west, Upper Middle Rd. in the north, Mainway in the south and the Sheldon Creek Naturalized Area in the east.

“The development of the Sheldon Creek Neighbourhood Traffic Management Plan is an ongoing study targeted for completion during the first quarter of 2023. Current activities include finalizing recommendations and reviewing the development proposal at 1989 Appleby Line to identify potential impacts to the Sheldon Creek neighbourhood, something identified by area residents as important,” reads a statement on the City of Burlington’s website about the study.

The 1989 Appleby Line (near Upper Middle Rd.) development includes two 20-storey buildings that will bring 475 residential units and retail space to the site where a gas station now exists.

The online meeting starts at 7 p.m.
